Dangerous Product - Causes Neck Injury and Suffocation August 11, 2010 Melanie Moore I purchased a sleep positoner of a different brand, but they look identical, so I'm posting a review here. I hope it doesn't take the death of a baby for the manufacturer to take this product off the market. It should be taken off the market immediately! My 6 week baby used it twice and it was hazardous both times in two different ways. 1). The first night, I put the positioner in the bassinet and tucked a light blanket under either side of it, so the blanket wouldn't move up to her face. Well, she ended up sliding down it getting tangled up under the blanket. Had I not checked on her when I did, she would have suffocated! She wasn't crying or anything, I just happened to check on her then. Very scary! I knew not to put a blanket in there, but I thought it would be safe tucked under the positioner, I did not anticipate my baby to slide down it. 2). The second night, I put the positioner in the center of my bed next to me with no blanket. This time was even more dangerous because she scooted her way up to the top of the positioner and almost had her head hanging off the top (this would've happened in a crib or bed). Fortunately, I happened to wake up in time to see this. She wasn't crying or anything, I just happened to wake up and check on her then...all it takes is a second for something to happen no matter how many times you check on your baby. The positioner is great in concept, BUT babies (even newborns) move, wiggle, slide down it, and scoot up it, making it a very DANGEROUS product.
Safety Hazard April 28, 2010 Mommy-to-Be (Charlottesville, VA) Sleep positioners pose a suffocation hazard. Numerous safety organizations, including Consumer Reports, recommend against these. The safest crib is a bare crib! That means no stuffed animals, no loose blankets, and definitely no sleep positioners!
sat in a box March 18, 2010 Sweet Concorde It was a gift, I had heard negative things about sleep positioners and wedges so I wasn't planning on using one. I tried putting my son in it when his nose was stuffy from a cold, and didn't care for it. It was awkward. He didn't seem to like it very much & I didn't feel like he was very secure in it.
NOT SAFE, DON"T BUY THIS OR ANYTHING LIKE IT !! July 31, 2009 Kerri Jo (Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
as some others have already commented, my baby was only 2 months old & on the very first night we tried this she wiggled her arms over the bumpers & we found her in the middle of the night with her head stuck between the cushions. This is a definite suffocation hazzard. I can't believe they are even allowed to sell these things! We just put a big book under each post at the head end of her bassinet to elevate her head a bit. That works just fine. She still wiggled around alot, even turning sideways sometimes. But at least she could breathe!
Don't waste your money July 1, 2009 H. L. Cross (Nashville, TN) Used a few times until it was soiled and needed washing. Took cover off and washed and air dryed and it basically was too small and fell apart where the one positioner bump is. Total waste of money. I ended up buying permanant crib wedge and the first positioner listed for $12 with vent holes and it works like a champ
