Crane 2.3 Gallon Cool Mist humidifier March 15, 2010 Nyla Flowers (Sparta, WI) I am very happy with my Crane cool mist humidifier. It runs very quietly, puts out a nice mist, and I find it relatively easy to clean. It keeps me from getting static shocks. I fill it in the morning and in the evening. It does an adequate job of keeping my small house humidified.
Good Buy March 14, 2010 Forrest R. Allen (Sacramento CA) We bought this after reading all the reviews on Amazon and decided on this one.
We were very pleased how easy it was to fill with water and to attach to the bottom unit.
We got it just in time because both us came down with colds right after we bought the unit.
The cool mist is better than the warm because you don't have worry about any heating unit getting
to hot. The video that is provided by Amazon is very helpful in keep it clean.
Stylish humidifier that works well... March 14, 2010 Wilis M. (Illinois, USA) Bought this based on the positive reviews. It looks as good as the picure.
It does make a quiet humming noise which can either be soothing or annoying depending on your tolerance for noise when you sleep. It doesn't bother me.
It does gurgle every 20 minutes or so as air bubbles enter the tank as it runs. Every once in a while (maybe once or twice a week) it wakes me up depending on where I am in my sleep cycle, I suppose.
When you lift the tank off the unit to refill it have a towel ready, because water will drip from the underside of the tank. It is water that collects up in the column that runs through the middle of the tank where the mist passes through as it runs. Not a big deal.
It helps to have a taller faucet when filling. You have to invert the tank (narrow end down) and unscrew the cap. When filling from my bathroom sink, I can get it under the faucet but can't fill it more than about 2/3 because I have to put it under the water at an angle. I either fill it from the tub faucet or take it to the kitchen.
I run it every night and have not had anything funky growing in the tank or the lower reservoir, yet. The quality of your water and how often you run it probably makes a difference.
My only suggestions are that it would be nice if the unit could direct the mist straight up in addition to an angle, and that I might prefer it be able to force the mist higher into the air.
Overall, I recommend the Crane humidifier. It is compact, quiet, and stylish.
Exactly What I Was Looking For March 12, 2010 Lovetoread (Hallowell, Maine USA) I love this little humidifier. It's size forces me to change the water daily so I don't end up with that gunk that my old humidifier would develop. It produces a very fine mist and I've noticed no leaking or dripping. It does a great job of humidifying my large family room. I highly recommend it.
Good, affordable, no-frills humidifier March 11, 2010 D. Glasser (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This humidifier works well and is very affordable compared to others on the market. It doesn't have some of the features that other offer, such as a humidity sensor. But its variable output can be set to an appropriate level and it runs for a full 10+ hours on a single tank.
There seems to be confusion about its capacity. The tank only holds about 1 gallon of water. I think Crane should be clearer that the 2.3 gallon figure in the name refers to the daily output, not the tank capacity.
Other reviewers comment on the "dripping" sound it makes when operating. I've noticed that, when turned up to its highest setting, there's a bit of a drip noise. It doesn't bother me. I normally run the humidifier at about 50%, and at that level there's very little noise. A slight whirring from the fan and little else. Certainly nothing that keeps me awake at night.
I purchased this humidifier to replace an older, more expensive one that had fallen into disrepair. I have also purchased a second for the nursery and wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
